The 2022/23 season is on!

With excitement (and some trepidation) spring veggie boxes are underway. Nerves about spring weather meant there’s only a small number but that means more of our veggies will be available at Arte-Zans on Saturdays! Meanwhile we’re planting lots of summer veggies for our summer boxes. Our three-month summer box subscription should be starting in December. Send us a message or email if you’d like to be one of the first to hear when these open up!

Veggie box update

We’re into our second month of veggie box deliveries and loving taking food directly to customers. The sun is shining and the plants are healthy and vibrant. This really must be the best time of year to be a market gardener – and to eat from a garden!   In an update on our plans: we’re too nervous to expand veggie box deliveries beyond our current customers this growing season. But we’re continuing to take a range of veggies to Arte-Zans in Geeveston each Saturday morning. We post what we’ve dropped off on our Instagram page soon after (and Facebook with a delay). The 2022/23 season is a long way off but if you’re super keen, send us an email and we’ll send you details closer to it.

Launching veggie boxes

2022 marks the start of our veggie boxes – at last! Boxes contain 6-8 seasonal items and cost $25. We’re offering free delivery between Franklin and Geeveston on Fridays or collection from Arte-Zans on Saturdays. Contact us for more information.

A pivot: now available at Willie Smith’s market

Unfortunately we’ve had to postpone our veggie box plans due to unforeseeable events. But there are silver linings! We can pay more attention to the cycle of insects. We can get quicker at harvesting, with less pressure. And we’re able to try things like supplying veg to the lovely ladies who run the Huon Valley Harvest stall at Willie Smith’s Saturday market. As new kids(ish) on the block, it’s wonderful to be part of a bigger network of growers with similar values. We’re tiptoeing in this week with lettuce.

Vegetables on display in shop

Local sales have begun!

We now kick off our weekend in the garden, harvesting some produce and taking it to Arte-Zans Cakes, Pastries and Desserts in Geeveston. At the moment it’s heirloom lettuces and some cooking greens. As the soil warms up and the plants grow up we’ll be expanding the range. The only problem with this arrangement is that it seems to be impossible to leave the shop without one of Becky’s sweet treats or some Huon Me Crumpet Co crumpets! Arte-Zans Cakes, Pastries and Desserts is at 20b Church St Geeveston. It’s open 10-3pm Saturday and Sunday.

Lettuce head in garden

Sales are starting soon!

This Saturday we’ll start selling our produce at Arte-Zans Cakes, Pastries and Desserts in Geeveston! There will be lettuce and rainbow chard as we tiptoe into our first real season of market gardening.  Head to 20b Church Street for fresh veg … and maybe afternoon tea while you’re there!   C
